Buxted Station (visited in 2000) had been rebuilt probably using the original bricks, which had been cleaned (viciously). There was only one track running (the other side and the old platform lay in weeds). The Station house is gone, the wall of the old building remains and can be seen at the end of the front canopy (The front of the house would have been in front of the white van). The below photos are courtesy of Nick Bailey, who very kindly responded to my request for any photographs of these station - I am very grateful Nick! The house, that was... This shows what Ockley would look like without a canopy... The waiting shelter on the old up platform. It was very different to those on the Warnham to Holmwood line. As this is a sister station, can anyone help? This picture was taken in 1984 when the station cottages still had their brick built privies in the gardens. These had gone by 1987... |
